Former U.S. Olympic pairs bronze medalist and figure skating coach PETER OPPEGARD was suspended by the U.S. Center for SafeSport yesterday after an "investigation of allegations of physical abuse." Oppegard's suspension is for one month, and in addition to that, he must “undergo ‘education’ and ‘probation’ for an unspecified length of time.” Oppegard allegedly “bit a teenage female skater on the arm” during a ’13 training session, according to the skater. Oppegard also allegedly “threw hot water and coffee” at skaters he coached (USA TODAY 5/2)....T'Wolves and Lynx CEO ETHAN CASSON was named one of the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal's Most Admired CEOs (BIZJOURNALS.com, 5/2)....Former MLBer DAVID WRIGHT was inducted into the Virginia Sports HOF on Saturday (Norfolk VIRGINIAN-PILOT, 5/2).
