Jimmy Johnson to take some weeks off Fox NFL pregame show

Fox's Jimmy Johnson will not appear every week on the network's NFL pregame show this fall, according to Jordan McPherson of the MIAMI HERALD. Johnson said new analyst Sean Payton "will jump in my seat" occasionally on weeks that Fox has a singleheader. Other such weeks, Johnson will take part in the broadcast "remotely from the Keys." However, he said he will be in the Fox studios in L.A. "for doubleheaders ... and obviously for playoff games and on Veterans day when we go to Doha, Qatar." The 79-year-old Johnson said, "They don’t like it when I’m not there. They’ve said, ‘Hey, when you’re there on set, it’s a lot better show.’ But at my age, I just don’t want to go to L.A. every week. At first, when we started doing it remotely, there was a concern because you had to have the camera just right. There was sometimes a little bit of a delay” (MIAMI HERALD, 8/14).
