Golfer Rickie Fowler is “hoping to invest in Leeds United as part of the takeover by 49ers Enterprises,” while fellow PGA Tour members Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas are “also looking to be part of the investment group,” according to Ben McKenna of the YORKSHIRE EVENING POST. Fowler said he “technically” is not yet a formal part of the ownership group headed by the 49ers’ investment arm that plans to buy out the 56% share Andrea Radrizzani owns of the club, which sits one tier below the Premier League. Fowler: “There’s the group that’s moving forward with being involved with Leeds -- myself, JT (Justin Thomas) and Jordan (Spieth), so potentially we’ll be a part of it.” McKenna notes Fowler was “pictured doing the Leeds salute” in April. Other U.S. athletes associated with the transaction are Pelicans F Larry Nance Jr. and Pacers G T.J. McConnell (YORKSHIRE EVENING POST, 6/15).
