Glendale City Council Approves Jobing.com Arena Lease Deal

The Glendale City Council last night gave the Coyotes a "new lease on life," approving by a 4-3 margin a deal that pays the team to "stay at Jobing.com Arena for at least five years" ( ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 7/3 ). With the vote, prospective Coyotes ownership group IceArizona now has a 15-year, $225M lease deal. The group "may have swung the vote in its favor earlier in the day when it announced a partnership with Global Spectrum ." IceArizona has until Aug. 5 to finalize the lease deal and purchase the team ( AP, 7/3 ).
