U.S. Rep. Sherman Suggests Arbitration For Dodgers Carriage Impasse

U.S. Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Calif.) has penned a letter suggesting "binding arbitration as a way of ending" the Dodgers carriage dispute. Addressing FCC Chair Tom Wheeler , Time Warner Cable CEO Rob Marcus and DirecTV CEO Michael White , Sherman wrote that "any multichannel provider that agreed to arbitration would be able to immediately launch SportsNet LA." He wrote that "three 'qualified neutral arbitrators' would determine the amount to be paid" by TV providers for the rest of the '14 season and for '15. The parties "would hold separate negotiations for 2016 and beyond" ( VARIETY.com, 8/4 ).

Quote of the Day
