Oakland mayor: A's ballpark talks to resume

Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf said that the "city and the A’s will resume their negotiations" over the team’s $12B plan to build a waterfront ballpark and development at Howard Terminal, "without specifying when they will start again." Schaaf: “The lawyers are starting to draft a final agreement.” The A’s declined to comment on Schaaf’s statement. As of Thursday, the A’s "were still waiting on direction from MLB on how to proceed." The disagreement between the city and the A’s "had mostly centered on who would pay" an estimated $352M for "off-site infrastructure and transportation upgrades and how much affordable housing would be included." Last week, the city said that the A’s "would not be responsible" for off-site infrastructure costs (S.F. CHRONICLE, 7/30).
