Red Stars BOD looks to oust owner Arnim Whisler

The NWSL Chicago Red Stars BOD "wants to facilitate a sale of majority owner Arnim Whisler’s shares." Whisler recently indicated that he "would be removing himself from all operational control." The team last night announced that they "had voted to remove Whisler as Chairman of the Board." The BOD -- comprised of Dean Egerter, Abel Lezcano, Colleen Mares (Advisory Board Co-Chair), Kim Vender Moffat, Brian Walsh and Kevin Willer -- "doesn’t intend to stop there." The team said via email, “The board wants to help facilitate a sale of Arnim’s shares in a timely process which is both prudent and when complete can lead Red Stars players, coaches and front office staff to a better future" (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 10/5).
