The Braves yesterday "gave no indication" they are considering changing their name. The club said it "honors, supports, and values the Native American community." The team also said they "have much work to do on and off the field" (AP, 7/4). As the Redskins and Indians "reevaluate their names, the Braves don't seem to be considering changing theirs." The Braves "haven't addressed how they plan to move forward" (ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION, 7/5).
Meanwhile, the CFL Edmonton Eskimos on Friday said that they are "keeping the Eskimos moniker following 'an extensive year-long formal research and engagement program with Inuit leaders and community members across Canada'" (AP, 7/3).
