Long known for its extensive work for the NFL (indeed, one of its senior partners — Tagliabue — was NFL commissioner for 17 years), Covington’s representation in sports spans all sectors of the industry for leagues and governing bodies, teams, college conferences, TV networks, entertainment studios, esports game publishers and more. A member of SBJ’s Forty Under 40 Hall of Fame, Zern has represented Ryan Smith in connection with his acquisition of the Utah Jazz and John Sherman in his purchase of the Kansas City Royals. Gibson, Zern and Spector have advised the NBA in the formation of NBA Africa and the Basketball Africa League, and the NFL on its revolving credit facility programs and in its G-3 and G-4 stadium funding programs. Sahni, 2020 Forty Under 40 honoree, and Ludwin have represented the NFL in antitrust challenges to its exclusive arrangements with DirecTV to distribute Sunday Ticket, while Canter and Irvin advise clients in the emerging and growing areas of technology and esports, respectively.
