Premier League club Liverpool has "taken control of the Anfield Road construction site following Buckingham Group’s collapse into administration." On August 17, the Buckingham Group -- the contractors for the Reds’ $100.6M redevelopment of the Anfield Road End -- "ceased trading and filed a notice to appoint administrators after suffering financial troubles." That process has now been "fully actioned with administrators Grant Thornton having been appointed." Following Buckingham Group's collapse into administration, Liverpool has "taken charge of the construction site, a development that means that, in theory, work can start again immediately once contractors are found to pick up the work." The club is reportedly "actively working on finding a replacement contractor so as to allow for the full opening of the stand as soon as possible on a phased basis" (LIVERPOOL ECHO, 9/5).
