Sources: NFL helmet maker Riddell exploring sale

Sporting equipment manufacturer Riddell is "exploring a sale" in a deal that "could value it at around" $800M, according to sources. The private equity-backed company, which makes the helmets of most NFL players, said it had engaged investment banks UBS Group and Robert W. Baird & Co "to explore market interest." Private equity firm Fenway Partners has owned Riddell for the last two decades. Other buyout firms "have shown interest in the company," which generates around $85M of annual EBITDA, the sources said (REUTERS, 11/6).
