Padres Chair Peter Seidler passes away at 63

Padres Chair Peter Seidler died this morning at 63. The Padres will open the Home Plate Gate at Petco Park beginning this afternoon for those who wish to gather to pay their respects (Padres). Seidler had been "battling an illness for months," but his family has "requested the cause of death remain private at this time." The Padres are "setting aside all non-essential business activity" this week, including their manager search, which will be "halted temporarily." No public memorial has been announced, though the Padres "do plan to honor Seidler during the 2024 season." Seidler in July said that the Padres "will remain in his family for generations after he died." A source today confirmed "that is the plan" (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 11/14).
