Nick Dunlap made golf history yesterday, becoming the first amateur to win a PGA Tour event in 33 years with his victory at The American Express in La Quinta, Calif. Dunlap, a sophomore at Alabama, had an NIL deal with Adidas in place prior to his victory at the U.S. Amateur in August, but the sides restructured the deal to make it a head-to-toe pact after that win, according to the brand. Dunlap's bag is a mix that includes TaylorMade, Ping, Srixon and Odyssey. He plays a Titleist ProV1 ball. Dunlap is repped by Kevin Canningat GSE Worldwide.
Dunlap now must decide if he will turn pro or not. With his win, he is exempt through the 2026 PGA Tour season, as well as the PGA Championship and Masters this year. He also is exempt into all Signature events on the PGA Tour this season should he decide to turn pro. Dunlap has entered this week's Farmers Insurance Open but as an amateur.
