Stanford women's basketball coach Tara VanDerveer last night secured the "most all-time wins by a college coach" as the Cardinal defeated Oregon State in front of a "near-sellout crowd" of 7,022 at Maples Pavilion. The win lifted VanDerveer "past Duke men’s coach Mike Krzyzewski with her 1,203rd victory." Dozens of alumni were on hand to "witness the feat." Following the game, after VanDerveer spoke to the crowd, her current players "showered her with gold confetti as the audience cheered, 'Tara, Tara'” (S.F. CHRONICLE, 1/22).

VanDerveer "received gifts: a custom Nike leather white bomber jacket covered with red tally marks representing 1,203 wins" (S.F. CHRONICLE, 1/22).
