Report: Univ. of Houston football stadium expected to undergo name change in 2025

The Univ. of Houston’s TDECU Stadium “could have a new name” beginning in 2025 as the football stadium is “expected to change its name as part of an ongoing rebrand” for the Lake Jackson-based financial cooperative, according to sources cited by Joseph Duarte of the HOUSTON CHRONICLE. The source said that the change was “originally expected for later this year,” but those plans have “been pushed to at least January.” The stadium is named for Texas Dow Employees Credit Union and the company has been the naming rights partner since the stadium opened in 2014. Two years ago, UH and TDECU announced a 10-year extension worth more than $20M that runs through at least 2034. Sources indicated that a name change “would have no impact on the existing agreement” (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 6/26).
