The Cowboys have made QB Dak Prescott the highest-paid QB in NFL history after agreeing to terms on a four-year, $240M contract extension ahead of today's regular-season opener against the Browns, according to sources. Prescott's deal includes $231M guaranteed and an $80M signing bonus. At $60M per year, Prescott surpasses the likes of the Bengals' Joe Burrow, Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence and Packers' Jordan Love, each of whom recently inked extensions worth $55M in average annual value. Prescott's new pact keeps him in Dallas through the 2028 season. By signing Prescott before he was slated to hit unfettered free agency in 2025, Dallas "avoided their franchise QB reaching the market with unheard-of leverage." The Cowboys from the start of training camp "faced questions about the future of Prescott" (NFL.com, 9/8).
