Centennial Authority approves Lenovo naming rights deal for Hurricanes' arena

The Centennial Authority today approved the renaming of the Hurricanes' arena to the Lenovo Center in a 10-year, $60M naming-rights contract, according to Chip Alexander of the Raleigh NEWS & OBSERVER. The 20-year PNC naming-rights deal paid $4M a year -- the revenue split among the Hurricanes, N.C. State and the authority. PNC then signed a two-year extension in 2022 than ran through August 2024. PNC Bank will “continue to have a presence at the arena" through its sponsorship of the PNC Victory Club and the PNC Club Level on the second floor. That agreement was announced Monday. Lenovo opened its North American headquarters in Morrisville, N.C., near Raleigh, in 2006 and has been a branding partner of the Hurricanes since September 2021, when the Lenovo logo was placed on the players’ helmets. The old PNC Arena signage has been removed this week. Centennial Authority Chair Philip Isley said that the new Lenovo signage outside the arena “should be completed by next week” (Raleigh NEWS & OBSERVER, 9/12).
