The Trail Blazersare boosting sustainability and recycling efforts in the Moda Center with the help of a recycling assistant from Intuitive AI called Oscar Sort.
Through computer vision, Oscar Sort recognizes items, assigns them waste categories (such as trash, recyclables or compostables) and points fans to the correct bins. On top of the front-end boost, the Oscar Sort system also provides data to determine the most frequent types of waste and monitors bag capacity to optimize venue staff time for when receptacles need to be changed.
The Trail Blazers will use this in unison with their full venue rollout of Rip City Reuse, a reusable cup program that will expand to all fountain drink services for the upcoming season.
