Incoming MLS Next Pro club Jacksonville Armada FC got the "green light from the city to kick off building its new stadium” as they are slated to join the league this year, according to Matt Denis of the JACKSONVILLE BUSINESS JOURNAL. Armada owner RP Sports Investments “aspires to open the stadium by March 2026." The stadium will "occupy over five acres of Jacksonville’s Eastside neighborhood" just north of VyStar Ballpark and Everbank Stadium. The stadium is “slated for an initial 2,500 seats as well as 25,000 square feet of office space." Gilbane Construction Co. will serve as the general contractor after Waitz and Moye served as the civil engineer on the project and Kasper architects + associates as the architect. The franchise has “already played at eight local venues since the team was founded” in 2013 with its most current home at the Univ. of North Florida's Hodges Stadium (JACKSONVILLE BUSINESS JOURNAL, 1/30).
