The Astros' City Connect uniforms, which are “expected to be officially unveiled in the next couple weeks,” on Thursday “leaked online,” according to Matt Young of the HOUSTON CHRONICLE. From the look of the leaks online, the new uniform will include “white pants, white jersey and white cap, paired with orange socks.” The jersey is a “bit of a mix of the 1990s Astros logo with the fan favorite Tequila Sunrise colors.” The jersey says “STROS” on the front with the “star logo the team began using in 1994.” The sleeves are “trimmed in the Astros' blue and orange colors” and there is “also a Union Station patch on the sleeve.” The Astros have not set a date for the grand reveal yet, but they will wear them for the first time on March 31 (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 3/13).
NEW THREADS: UNI WATCH’s Phil Hecken noted MLB has confirmed there will be eight total new City Connect uniforms. Aside from the Astros, the other seven teams who will debut a second City Connect design in 2025 include the D-backs, Red Sox, White Sox, Rockies, Marlins, Giants and Nationals. It is “not altogether surprising that the White Sox would introduce a new CC, as they were one of the original seven teams to get the first batch of CCs back in 2021.” They could “conceivably move their current City Connect into their Core Four (much like the Red Sox will be doing with their yellow Boston Marathon CC)” (UNI WATCH, 3/14).
