U.S. President DONALD TRUMP yesterday welcomed Ohio State Univ.’s championship football team to the White House. Trump recounted “key details” of the team’s winning season and greeted individual players by name in a ceremony on the White House South Lawn. VP JD VANCE, an Ohio State alum, joined Trump at the podium, as did coach RYAN DAY. At one point, the championship trophy “came apart in Vance’s hands but was quickly repaired.” The team gave Trump an Ohio State helmet and a team jersey that said, “Trump 47.” Afterwards, Ohio Gov. MIKE DEWINE and Lt. Gov. JIM TRESSEL joined the team at the podium (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 4/14).
COMING SOON: A new documentary exploring the “darker side” of Pro Football HOFer BRETT FAVRE’s career and controversies “will hit Netflix later this spring.” The documentary, “THE FALL OF FAVRE”, is the next installment in the streaming giant’s “Untold” sports documentary series. The hour-long feature will air on Netflix starting May 20. The documentary will probe the ex-quarterback’s harassment of Jets team host JENN STERGER in 2008, while he was still in N.Y., as well as the “more recent welfare funds scandal Favre was involved in in Mississippi” (USA TODAY, 4/14).

Yesterday’s service featured speeches from Houston Mayor JOHN WHITMIRE, former heavyweight champion MICHAEL MOORER and others (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 4/14)....Chiefs TE TRAVIS KELCE’s “Kelce Jam” is returning for a third straight year. Organizers have not announced what acts will be performing, or where the show will be held but the date of the concert “accidentally was revealed in a Garage Beer contest.” Kelce Jam will be held on May 17th (K.C. STAR 4/14)....Longtime sportscaster JIM LAMPLEY’s autobiography, “IT HAPPENED! A UNQUIELY LUCKY LIFE IN SPORTS TELEVISION,” is being released today.
