Cal AD Jim Knowlton is “retiring” after having served in the role since 2018, according to Pete Thamel of ESPN.com. The news on Knowlton -- who worked at Air Force prior to Cal -- “comes amid a new football reporting structure that appeared to diminish his role.” GM Ron Rivera was hired recently to run football and reports directly to Chancellor Rich Lyons (ESPN.com, 6/16).
