Viewers will get a unique vantage point Tuesday during the MLB Draft Combine, as MLB Network will utilize a live “CatcherCam” for the first time.
The catchers will be fitted with the UmpCam by RF Wireless Systems, which features a small Marshall POV camera with a mini transmitter housed in a customized mask developed with cooperation from MLB.
As a result, MLB Network will be able to integrate live cuts from its production truck, allowing fans to view the top pitching prospects as if they were receiving pitches behind the plate.
Former P Al Leiter and C Alex Avila will be providing analysis as they watch along the field.
Fielding and pitching data will be captured in real time and shared during the coverage.
The MLB Draft Combine takes place from Tuesday-Saturday at Chase Field. The 2025 MLB Draft will be held in Atlanta July 13-14.
Four years ago, the “CatcherCam” was featured at MLB Summer Camps.
