Alabama AD Greg Byrne said that revenue share to athletes following the House settlement will be “distributed based on ‘revenue generation,’” according to Colin Gay of the TUSCALOOSA NEWS. Bryne said football and men’s basketball will “have the highest percentage of rev share,” as they are the “two sports that turn a profit.” He added that the rest will be “divided up with the other ticketed sports: softball, baseball, gymnastics and women’s basketball.” Bryne said while “some schools are doing a little bit for everything,” he is “not sure how much of a difference that will make at the end of the day when you just carve off a small sliver for a sport.” Byrne: “We have a plan. And I told our coaches in this: it’s fluid” (TUSCALOOSA NEWS, 6/18). In Alabama, Matt Stahl noted Alabama football reported $140.3M in revenue and $113.8M in expenses to the NCAA for FY2024, for a $26.4M surplus. Alabama men’s basketball brought in $21.3M in FY2024, which included its first Final Four run, while spending $15.3M, for a surplus of nearly $6M (AL.com, 6/18).
