The annual handle decline that sportsbooks typically see after March Madness won’t be as sharp this year as in previous years, based on data from May.
With only Arizona left to report, handle for May was down only 3% from April. Last year, handle fell 8% from April to May. In 2023, May was down 13% from April.
U.S. handle was on pace to increase 14% year-on-year. Handle for May was up 20% or more in New Jersey, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, Wyoming and Vermont.
