T-Mobile was once known for an “all eggs in one basket” sponsorship strategy, whether it was in its time as an NBA sponsor or its early years as an MLB affiliate — a sponsorship that began on 2013 and now encompasses the annual Home Run Derby at the All-Star Game. But as it has grown to the second-largest wireless carrier, with the acquisition of U.S. Cellular in 2024, so has its portfolio. It now includes McLaren Racing and the Las Vegas Grand Prix, the PGA of America and the SEC, along with naming rights to the MLB stadium in Seattle and the Vegas NHL arena. Mike Belcher is a 23-year marketer at T-Mobile, winner of the 2023 Sports Business Award for Sponsor of the Year, after stops at McDonald’s and Disney. Amy Azzi, a 2022 Forty Under 40 honoree, has 18 years of industry chops and has been at T-Mobile since 2017, following stops with Visa and GMR.
