CBS Sports broadcaster Jim Nantz spoke on the partnership between him and analyst Tony Romo in the booth and said he has “never had more fun, in my career, than I’m having with Tony.” Appearing on CBS Sports’ “Beyond the Booth,” Nantz added Romo was “brilliant right from the very first.” He noted the two have “over 160 games, probably closer to 175” games together. Romo said it is “a gift to be able to do the games and to not try and get to that game or get to that week, or because sometimes we’re grinding out each week, and I think that I just grown in appreciation for each situation.” Romo added Nantz is “like a brother and father, like all these things in one.” Nantz spoke on how the football broadcast has evolved and said the first down line that you see at home, “all the innovation that’s come with it, the growth of the league, and it’s the stature of the league is so much greater than it used to be.” He said, “I don’t know how it can get any bigger, but every year, the league figures out a way to raise it another notch.” Nantz: “I have never had a better time than I’m having right now, and this guy right here has a lot to do with that. It truly makes everything fresh, exciting, enjoyable. And I’m proud of him” (“Beyond the Booth,” CBS Sports, 8/18).
