Mississippi State will debut its $9M worth of upgrades to Davis Wade Stadium during the football home opener on Sept. 6, some of which include “LED lights, refurbished concourses and bathrooms, new concessions offerings, relocated tailgates and more,” according to Sam Sklar of the Jackson CLARION LEDGER. One of the “most noticeable upgrades will be the LED lights,” which can “change colors, strobe and choreograph to music.” It is MSU’s first upgrades to the lights since 2010. Davis Wade Stadium, the second-oldest on-campus FBS stadium in the country, has never had LED lights. A drone show will debut at halftime during the home opener against Arizona State. Fourteen “new fireworks locations around the stadium have been created,” and a “new sound system on the field has been added” as well. Four new concessions stands will be available while “some of the existing concessions have been upgraded.” The Junction outside Davis Wade Stadium will now be “occupied by Southern Tradition Tailgating.” The students’ designated tailgate will be “nearby at the amphitheater bowl.” A revamped MSU gameday page will “launch soon with maps, parking information, seating charts and more” (Jackson CLARION LEDGER, 8/27).
