Athlos announced Cash App as a premier sponsor for this year’s Athlos NYC, with any runner who breaks a world record at any of the seven events set to receive a $250,000 prize thanks to Cash App. The event is returning to Icahn Stadium on Oct. 10. As part of the partnership, Athlos will give U.S.-based runners the option to receive their award prize via Cash App’s peer-to-peer feature for the first through sixth place finishers in each event. This year’s Athlos NYC includes elite track and field athletes: Gabby Thomas and Faith Kipyegon on the track side, as well as Tara Davis-Woodhall who will compete in the long jump. This is Athlos’ first-ever field competition, of which qualifying will take place in Times Square on Oct. 9 (Athlos).
