The sod at Acrisure Stadium “is being replaced” following yesterday’s game, where Steelers K Chris Boswell “slipped and fell when trying to kick a field goal in the second half.” This was after he had “problems kicking during pregame warmups.” Boswell “refused to answer questions” about the field conditions when a reporter asked him about it afterward, but QB Aaron Rodgers said that the field was “borderline unplayable” in the second half and “intimated the conditions might have contributed to the non-contact knee injury” S Miles Killebrew suffered in the second quarter (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 10/12).
After the game, grounds crew members were “performing some heavy maintenance on the field, removing turns around the perimeter of the playing area and digging holes at several places.” The next scheduled event at Acrisure is a Univ. of Pittsburgh home game against N.C. State on Oct. 25. The Steelers host the Packers the next day (TRIBLIVE.com, 10/12).
