Pixellot, a leading AI-powered sports video provider, has extended its agreement with PlayOn Sports for five years, furthering a collaboration that has already produced and streamed more than 3.4 million high school sporting events.
PlayOn is the operator of several high school athletic brands -- GoFan, MaxPreps and the NFHS Network -- and since the initial agreement was reached in 2017 and accelerated in 2020, it has helped distribute more than 16,000 automated Pixellot cameras to some 9,000 U.S. high schools.
Pixellot, a 2023 SBJ Tech Most Innovative Company, has developed what it is calling “AI as a Service” (AIaas), an agentic AI technology intended to drive stronger fan engagement through personalization and more revenue for participating schools. Other new features to be made available to schools include PlayOn’s MaxPreps Advantage, a coaching analytics toolset, and Pixellot’s automated first down markers, the first time the famed yellow line will reach the scale of high school sports.
In addition to PlayOn, Pixellot is a major partner of NBC Sports Next-owned SportsEngine, which makes the cameras available to youth and amateur sports venue operators.
