Reports surface that Rupert Murdoch 's News Corp. is looking to sell the Dodgers , as the company is looking to raise cash for an expected DirecTV bid. With News Corp. using the Dodgers as a source of TV content, "analysts think it may make more sense for the company to pay for the broadcast rights annually instead of shouldering the team's operating costs." News Corp. paid $313M for the team in '98, and would eventually end up selling the team to Frank McCourt  for $430M in '04.
