The sport of Padel of was profiled on “CBS Mornings” earlier today, with CBS’s Vladimir Duthiers noting one of the sport’s “most high-profile fans” is tennis player Andy Murray, who has “put his own money into the sport with an investment in a Padel company in the U.K.” Murray said of why the sport appeals to him, “There’s obviously a bit of crossover to tennis, but it’s probably a little bit easier, a bit more forgiving on the body. But it’s fun, it’s competitive, it’s good exercise. I believe it is a better game to play than pickleball.” The Pro Padel League has launched in North America with former WTAer Jordana Lujan competing in the league, but Duthiers noted Lujan said “it’s going to take more than a pro league for the sport to catch on here.” Lujan: “If Padel gets into universities, into colleges, that’s what’s going to (help it) explode” ( “CBS Mornings,” 6/19).
