LaLiga side Atlético Madrid partnered with global agency Sportfive it increase its int'l market presence. The club has identified Greater China and North America as key target markets in the partnership with Sportfive, which will include international strategy, digital audience development, brand amplification and fan experience as well as product development and commercial sales. Sportifve will bring in a dedicated team based out of its offices in N.Y., Shanghai and Europe (Madrid, Barcelona and Hamburg) in to work with the Spanish club, which is currently in first place in LaLiga (THE DAILY).
Atlético projected 6% commercial growth from '18-19 to '19-20, but commercial growth ended up decreasing by 7%, to €80.5M ($96.4M). Revenue from sponsorships alone, however, was up 3.1% YOY thanks to multiple renewals as well as new deals including one with Ria Money Transfer (2PLAYBOOK, 2/4).
