U.S. investors eyeing LaLiga side Espanyol

A group of American investors led by the owners of the Orlando Magic and the Minnesota Vikings have expressed an interest in buying LaLiga club Espanyol, sources said. Barcelona-based Espanyol has been owned by Chinese businessman Chen Yansheng since '16 but sources say he is "willing to listen to offers for the club." The American consortium which includes Dan DeVos, owner of the Magic, and the Wilf family (Zygi, Leonard and Mark) who run the Vikings and MLS side Orlando City, has "sounded out a deal." Mallorca is the only U.S-owned club in LaLiga. Espanyol is 12th in LaLiga with 32 points, eight points clear of the relegation zone with 11 games to play (ESPN.com, 3/11).
