The IRL will return to Infineon Raceway in ’06, and the Rolex Sports Car Series will join the series at the track the weekend of August 25-27, 2006, according to Jack Rux of the OAKLAND TRIBUNE. Grand American Road Racing Association President Roger Edmundson said the Rolex Series will also race at Laguna Seca and California Speedway, calling it a “California Triple Crown” for the series ( OAKLAND TRIBUNE, 8/28 ). Meanwhile, IRL President & CEO Brian Barnhart said that there were “discussions about the IRL racing on Friday night of NASCAR’s Labor Day weekend” at California Speedway He said that the details could not be worked out for ’06, but it “will remain a topic for” ’07 ( AUTOWEEK, 8/29 issue ).
