Andre Agassi Ends Business Relationship With Perry Rogers

Tennis legend ANDRE AGASSI has ended his business relationship with his longtime agent and lifelong friend, PERRY ROGERS , the star’s company confirmed in a statement released today, after weeks of speculation in the industry that the two had parted ways. Agassi Enterprises Inc., the Las Vegas-based company which oversees the business affairs of Agassi and his wife, tennis great STEFFI GRAF , released a statement saying that Rogers, who has served as Agassi’s agent, manager and lawyer for 15 years, had stepped down as president of Agassi Enterprises, effective immediately. Agassi and Rogers grew up together in Las Vegas and Rogers began representing Agassi after graduating from law school in ‘94. STEVE MILLER , a former Nike executive and former PBA CEO who was appointed CEO of The Andre Agassi Charitable Foundation earlier this year, will take the reigns of Agassi Enterprises during the transition. Rogers remains president of Premier Integrated Sports Management (PRISM), Rogers’ sports marketing agency, which counts Suns C SHAQUILLE O’NEAL and UFC as clients. Rogers said in the statement, “Business in today’s world is more demanding than ever. Andre and I feel this is the right move in the evolution of the business and our desire to not let anything get in the way of our longstanding friendship” ( Mullen & Kaplan, SportsBusiness Journal ). Rogers said, "We've been talking about it for a long time. We made the decision in August, but we didn't want to announce it until after the fundraiser because we didn't want to cause any distractions." He added that their business relationship "was consuming him and Agassi to the point that there was danger of it impacting their friendship." Miller said that Agassi "probably will take a more active role on the business side" ( LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 10/16 ).
