ABC Draws Best NBA Finals Viewership Since Michael Jordan's Final Win With The Bulls
Warriors-Cavaliers on ABC drew the best NBA Finals viewership since the Michael Jordan-led Bulls topped the Jazz in '98, a figure that also was easily ABC's best since ESPN acquired NBA TV rights prior to the '02-03 season. ABC finished with an average of 19.94 million viewers for the six games of the Warriors-Cavs series, marking the most-watched Finals since Bulls-Jazz averaged 29.04 million viewers in '98 on NBC. Warriors-Cavaliers is up 28% from an average of 15.52 million viewers for the five-game Spurs-Heat series last year. The six-game series this year also was the most-viewed NBA Finals ever on WatchESPN, drawing an average of 757,000 unique viewers (+102% from '14). ESPN Deportes also averaged 144,000 viewers, flat compared to the record-setting figure for Spurs-Heat last year. ABC averaged 23.25 million viewers for the series-clinching Game 6 on Tuesday, up 13% from the most-recent Game 6 -- Heat-Spurs in '13 ( Austin Karp, Assistant Managing Editor ).
