Each day during the Olympics, THE DAILY offers our take on the business performances of some of the people, sponsors, broadcasters and other entities around Pyeongchang.
GOLD: NORWAY -- Sure, it has plenty of snow and ice and a good bit of Winter Olympic history, but this country of barely over 5 million people is dominating the Pyeongchang Games with 29 medals overall and 11 golds.
SILVER: LEIGH DIFFEY -- NBC’s bobsled, luge and skeleton announcer is as infectious as it gets, perfectly blending excitement with relatable information for novices.
BRONZE: TED LIGETY -- His Olympics didn’t go as planned, but the two-time gold medalist helped rejuvenate alpine skiing in the U.S. both as a competitor and co-Founder of Shred Optics, a maker of googles, sunglasses and helmets.
TIN: NHL -- We understand the reasons why the league’s players aren’t in Pyeongchang. But the men’s hockey competition isn’t nearly as compelling as it is with the world’s best players, and NBC’s ratings are showing it.
