DraftKings has hired a head of sportsbook in anticipation of potentially being able to operate in the space following a Supreme Court ruling in the Christie v. NCAA case. SEAN HURLEY , formerly the head of commercial at London-based sportsbook Amelco UK, will fill the role and operate out of a newly opened DraftKings office in Hoboken, N.J. Hurley will report to DraftKings co-Founder & CRO MATT KALISH . Hurley’s mission according to the company will be “to help build, launch and drive the sports betting vertical at DraftKings.” The move gives NHL, MLB and NFL owners such as the Cowboys' JERRY JONES and Patriots' ROBERT KRAFT interests in a U.S. sportsbook operation by virtue of their equity investments in DraftKings. DraftKings co-Founder & CEO JASON ROBINS has spoken repeatedly of his interest of entering the sports gambling space if the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PAPSA) is struck down, saying earlier this month, “It puts us in a great position to innovate and really do some creative things.”
