China-based Wanda Sports Group is "considering selling the Ironman triathlon business" it bought in '15, according to sources cited by Baker, Chan & Cao of BLOOMBERG NEWS. The sources said that Wanda is "working with an adviser and has held discussions with some private-equity buyers that expressed interest in the business." One source said that the company is seeking around $1B for Ironman. Baker, Chan & Cao report a deal could come after Wanda "declined to enter talks last year with the Professional Triathletes Organization, which was interested in acquiring" Ironman. At the time, Wanda said that "excessive leverage has hampered" its "ability to invest" in the triathlon outfit. Sources said that deliberations are "ongoing" and Wanda "could decide against proceeding with a sale" (BLOOMBERG NEWS, 2/17).
