Commissioners from the Power 5 conferences reportedly held an emergency meeting on Sunday to address their growing concerns that fall sports—including football—will not be able to be played this fall due to the coronavirus.
According to ESPN , the Big Ten is ready to cancel its entire fall sports season and is trying to gauge whether its fellow Power 5 conferences would follow suit. The Big Ten would hope to resume playing football in the spring, which is the same plan that the Mid-American Conference announced on Saturday.
“It’s gotten to a critical stage,” one Power 5 conference commissioner told Sports Illustrated on Sunday. “I think all of us will be meeting with our boards in the coming days. We have work to do that is no fun.”
