Coaches & Athletes Permitted to View Video During NCAA Track & Field Events

The NCAA has passed a new rule to allow coaches to record video during indoor and outdoor track and field competitions. The new rule goes into effect for the 2020-21 academic year.

Coaches can now operate hand-held devices during events. Videos recorded by coaches can be viewed and shared with athletes during events, allowing them to evaluate their own performance during competitions.

Footage must be viewed in a designated area established by on-site meet officials. If a video is viewed outside the designated area, it will result in a warning. A second violation will result in a disqualification for the coach and competitor.
