SIQ Basketball announced that its smart ball has moved out of beta testing and is now available to be shipped across the U.S. The ball is embedded with sensors to track shooting analytics and is the first smart basketball to receive approval for in-game use by FIBA, the global governing body of basketball.
Sensors inside the ball track data such as makes, misses, swish percentage, shot distance, shooting percentage, form consistency, shot situation, release time, and release angle. The ball retails for $99 while a subscription to SIQ’s mobile app costs $6.99 per month or $12.99 per month to access premium features.
Miami Heat guard Duncan Robinson and Minnesota Lynx guard Kala McBride are brand partners of SIQ Basketball . The company raised a pre-seed round of just under $1 million last summer and plans to raise additional capital this year.
