MLB All-Star Game sees audience increase, capping positive week

Fox averaged 8.24 million viewers for the MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday night from Denver, up 1% from 8.14 million for the game two years ago from Cleveland. There was no game in '20 due to the pandemic. This year’s game is down 5% from 8.69 million in '18 from DC. The game easily delivered Fox a win in primetime on Tuesday. The No. 2 program was NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” from 8:00-10:00pm ET, which averaged 7.1 million viewers. This year marks the first time since '17 -- and only the second time over the last decade -- that both the Home Run Derby and the All-Star Game saw audience increases in the same year. The gains also come as the MLB Draft saw a record audience with its move to the Sunday night of All-Star weekend. The All-Star pregame show on Fox from 7:00-8:00pm averaged 3.18 million viewers. MLB Network from 6:00-7:45pm averaged 187,000 viewers for All-Star batting practice, up from 106,000 in '19.
