Broadcast gamification company Sport Buff has expanded its partnership with women’s soccer streaming service Ata Football to add interactive features such as predictions, quizzes, polls and trivia to hundreds of live match broadcasts.
Beta testing for Sport Buff began earlier this year with U.K. Women’s Super League games on Ata Football . Sport Buff’s on-screen widget — which includes leaderboards that rank viewers based on their participation during a broadcast — will now expand to include matches from leagues such as France’s D1 Arkema, Germany’s Frauen Bundesliga, Spain’s Primera Iberdrola and Italy’s Serie A.
Ata Football has 25,000 members and was co-founded in 2020 by former Princeton star and Puerto Rico women’s national team player Esmeralda Negrón. The company says its WSL pilot with Sport Buff had an average audience watch time 320% higher than its broadcasts without Sport Buff, which also partnered with Twitch in August to add interactivity into NWSL streams.
