SIQ Basketball, the developer of a sensor-embedded basketball to track shot data, closed a $3 million funding round. The round was led by Chicago-based KB Partners and Tera Ventures in Estonia.
FIBA, the global governing body of basketball, approved SIQ’s ball for in-game use last year. The SIQ Basketball and its app can track more than 190 data points such as swish percentage, shot distance and location, arc of shot, spin rate, release time and whether shots were taken off the dribble or catch-and-shoot.
Former Finnish professional basketball player Harri Hohteri is the founder of SIQ Basketball, which costs $99 plus an $8.99 monthly app subscription. NBA player Duncan Robinson and WNBA player Kayla McBride have promoted SIQ’s smart ball.
