MLB will not have sponsor ads on batting helmets this postseason

MLB will not have sponsor ads on batting helmets during the playoffs despite a provision in the new collective-bargaining agreement that grants the league the option to implement such ads for the 2022 postseason. Instead, the league has opted to wait to introduce the sponsor logo decals on helmets until next postseason, at which point it will add a new national asset to its inventory.

MLB jersey patch ads, which are sold at the club level, are also coming in 2023. A couple of patch deals have already surfaced: The Padres in April announced Motorola as their jersey patch partner beginning in 2023, and SBJ’s Terry Lefton reported in July that the Red Sox and MassMutual are in agreement on a patch deal.
