Michigan Stadium is “getting new scoreboards ahead of the 2023 season,” according to Alejandro Zuniga of 247SPORTS.com. Both video boards were “removed days after the 2022 season ended.” The north end zone now has its video board installed, and the back paneling “featuring the iconic block M is being attached to the structure.” The new scoreboards are part of a “major project” that will “improve numerous aspects of the fan experience at the Big House and other athletics facilities.” Zuniga noted it may cost $4M less than its original $41M estimate. Along with the spending $12M to replace both video boards, the school will also spend an additional $4M to add “permanent safety additions for access” to the new video boards.” The school will also spend $5M to “replace the audio system at Michigan Stadium.” Michigan is slated to spend $8M to fund “production room upgrades” inside the Crisler Center, and the estimated cost of “site work and design fees” is $12M (247SPORTS.com, 7/3).
