The St. Petersburg Times Forum on Sunday transitioned to its new name, Tampa Bay Times Forum. The renaming of the venue "coincided with the decision of the St. Petersburg Times, which bought the naming rights in 2002," to change its name to the Tampa Bay Times ( TAMPA BAY TIMES, 1/1 ).

David Beckham has decided not to join French soccer club Paris Saint-Germain "for family reasons," according to reports in France. Beckham, who "had been widely linked with a move" to the club, "could now extend his spell" with the MLS Galaxy ( BBC.co.uk, 1/3 ).

Cotton Bowl officials and Fox Sports have announced that the '13 game will be played Jan. 4, "the third consecutive year the game at Cowboys Stadium will be played on a Friday night after New Year's Day" ( AP, 1/2 ).

Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott said that Stanford and Notre Dame "would like to play a football game in China as early as 2013." Scott added that the date "might be too soon" ( AP, 1/2 ).
